The firm is focused on five key areas within dispute resolution, from contentious regulatory matters and investigations to class action defence and commercial litigation and restructuring, with Jack Pembroke-Birss handling commercial litigation for clients in the financial services, energy and natural resources sectors. Represented National Australia Bank in the Dick Smith litigation, concerning the judgment for NAB against the CFO for misleading and deceptive conduct in connection with the bank's entry loan agreements with the Dick Smith group.
Acted in an ASIC civil penalty proceeding against the entire board and senior management of Star Casino.
Acting in an appeal hearing before the High Court of Australia for Chevron in a Perth-seated arbitration under the UNCITRAL Rules concerning a dispute between Chevron and two of its contractors in connection with a contract to supply labour to the Gorgon project.
