A ‘standout choice in the banking and finance sector’, Baker McKenzie Chile's multidisciplinary team is mandated by commercial, merchant and investment banks, along with other financial institutions and corporate borrowers, on a vast array of deals. The six-member team has significant experience in project financing, corporate loans and refinancing, as well as acquisition finance, derivatives, securitisation and regulatory matters. The practice also comprises lawyers who regularly advise both borrowers and lenders on New York law-governed projects and corporate financings (alongside the firm’s New York lawyers). Highlights for the department include advising Standard Chartered Bank (Hong Kong), -as facility agent, general security agent and lender- on an $800m syndicated loan facility to Tianqui Lithium Australia Investments 1 Pty; and assisting Tesla with drafting and negotiating an innovative retail finance cooperation agreement. Leading the banking and finance practice group in Chile, Sebastián Vivanco specialises in banking regulatory issues, derivatives and project financing; while transactional expert Jaime Munro is experienced in corporate finance, capital markets and securitisation.
