With ‘a practical approach that is sensitive to clients’ business needs’, Cariola Díez Pérez-Cotapos’ large team acts on the full range of competition law matters, including both litigation and advisory work; and its track record encompasses cartel litigation, unilateral conduct investigations and merger control work. On the compliance side, the group is notably active in relation to the energy, retail, infrastructure and logistics sectors, as well as fast-moving consumer goods and retail clients. Clients additionally benefit from the practice’s ability to leverage the intellectual property (IP) expertise of its sister-firm Sargent & Krahn, in relation to the intersection of competition and IP rights. Antitrust practice head Juan Cristóbal Gumucio, who assists with litigation, market investigations and merger control proceedings, is ‘always able to offer expert advice’; and Gerardo Varela’s workload includes antitrust and litigation mandates, along with corporate law and M&A. At senior associate level, Camila Rojas and José Manuel Donoso both advise on antitrust and corporate matters, while at the more junior end, Andrés Hananía and José Luis García Marcelo Mayor complete the team.
