‘A leading litigation firm with prominent lawyers’, boutique firm Jana & Gil Dispute Resolution focuses exclusively on the resolution of complex disputes. The six-member group has a significant track record in representing domestic and foreign clients in high-stakes cases before Chile’s ordinary and special courts, the Courts of Appeals, Supreme Court and administrative bodies; its sector expertise includes energy, construction, mining, real estate, finance and retail. The practice is co-led by the ’obviously excellent’ Andrés Jana, who acts in heavyweight litigation in addition to his arbitration work; Rodrigo Gil, an expert in contract-related conflicts, who (alongside Jana) is representing Chilean governmental organisation CORFO in claims before Chile’s civil courts to recover $150m that was embezzled from the Chilean State; and firm managing partner and ‘extraordinary trial lawyer’ Karen Werner, who focuses on civil and commercial complex litigation. Notable growth for the team includes the January 2024 promotion of ’outstanding lawyer’ and former practice director Tomas Bown to partner; and the raising of Cristóbal Vergara to senior associate. Bown is a specialist in complex civil and commercial claims; and Vergara assists with the resolution of civil and commercial disputes, shareholder conflicts, insolvency proceedings, company reorganisation-related actions, and construction and mining sector litigation.
