Home to a ‘team that really understands energy project developments’, Philippi Prietocarrizosa Ferrero DU & Uría's full-service energy and natural resources department fuses expertise in electricity-related regulatory matters with energy sector M&A deals, energy project financings, offtake agreements, power purchase agreements (PPAs), operation and maintenance issues, and onshore and offshore engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contracts. The 10-strong group, which also covers oil-and-gas regulatory work, is co-led by ’great lawyer’ Carlos Alberto Reyes, who covers both transactional and development aspects, including permitting, community affairs, land lease agreements, easements and development services; and energy regulatory specialist Eduardo Escalona, an adviser on tariff processes, PPA-related tenders, transmission systems and project development. In the senior associate team, energy regulatory practitioner Antonia Jorquera is experienced in tariff processes, PPA negotiation, project development and electricity sector-related conflict resolution. In a notable boost to the practice, construction and engineering specialist Mario Fava, whose practice encompasses project contracts, energy supply bidding processes and the implementation of renewable energy projects, was made partner in January 2025.
