The eight-member healthcare and life sciences practice at Baker McKenzie Chile routinely assists with filings before the national sanitary authority, registration cancellations, and obtaining licenses for manufacturing, selling, distributing and advertising products under local law. It also advises on public procurement regulation, along with clinical trials, access issues, medical device registrations, data exclusivity, adverse event reporting, administrative proceedings, recalls, disputes, and product acquisitions and transfers. The group is additionally able to leverage the firm’s global network of healthcare law specialists on behalf of major pharmaceutical clients. It assists US biotechnology and biomedical engineering firm Boston Scientific (on an ongoing basis) with matters involving the intersection between corporate regulatory and IP issues. Intellectual and industrial property expert Valentina Venturelli is also a specialist in life sciences and regulatory matters who acts on behalf of clients from the pharmaceutical, cosmetics, medical device, foodstuff and veterinary industries. Venturelli's experience includes advising on the import, distribution and commercialisation of products; sanitary regulations, clinical trials and scientific research. Primary support is provided by Fernando Castro, an adviser on pharmaceutical sector work, while corporate law associates Maria Elena Dörr and Martín Muller complete the group.
