Carey's public law practice stands out for the breadth and impact of its work across Chile’s most significant regulatory, constitutional, and public policy matters. The group is known for advising state entities and multinational corporations on Chile’s governance and regulatory architecture; it assists clients from a range of industry sectors including mining, healthcare, banking, trade, transport, pharmaceuticals, security and technology. The team’s work spans high-stakes public procurement, regulatory compliance and public-private partnerships, as well as representing clients in complex administrative proceedings before the Court of Appeals and Comptroller General. Practice head Camilo Lledó spearheads many of the firm’s headline matters, including representing Codelco in legal proceedings related to its lithium exploitation partnership with SQM, a project under intense political and public scrutiny. Lledó also advised the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications on a pivotal public tender for a 30% concession of Santiago’s bus system; and advised global food company, Compass Group, on its participation in the bidding process for contracts at the new Talca Prison. At associate level, both Carolina Baeza and José Ignacio Millañir area active with regard to public tender processes and complex administrative litigation. Former senior legal counsel Patricio Zapata left the firm in 2025.
