ECIJA's sports and entertainment law capabilities take in the drafting and negotiation of representation agreements with promoters and agencies, commercial and sponsorship contracts, labour relations matters, and the protection of personal data, IP and image rights. The firm is regularly called upon by sports companies, federations, entertainment entities and athletes. The group is also active in arbitration proceedings before specialised sports organisations in Mexico and abroad. Leadership of the practice is shared between national managing partner Ricardo Chacón, and IP and TMT specialist Mike Margáin. Chacón specialises in corporate and commercial law, project finance, telecoms and entertainment matters, and can draw on substantial experience providing professional football clubs in the Mexican Football Federation's First Division with corporate and technological law advice. Senior associate Fernando Poo is noted for his work advising professional football clubs on their legal incorporation, the hiring of players, the drafting of sponsorship and advertising contracts, and handling challenges to disciplinary sanctions imposed by international bodies.
