Encompassing consulting, litigation and controversy, KPMG Mexico‘ tax practice provides comprehensive legal support, including audit defence, representation before administrative and constitutional courts, the handling of VAT and reimbursement claims, and matters before PRODECON. The team also has robust transfer pricing capabilities and demonstrates expertise in mutual agreement procedures (MAPs), treaty-based negotiations and the defence of pricing adjustments. Senior partner Ulises Castilla oversees the firm’s entire legal offering, but his practice centres on high-stakes tax matters, including audit defence, nullity & amparo proceedings, settlement negotiations before PRODECON, and procedural strategies before the Mexican Tax Authority (SAT). Castilla co-heads the fiscal practice with Armando Lara (head of the firm’s international tax division), who focuses on complex cross-border taxation, tax policy and fiscal planning.
