The team at Munger, Tolles & Olson, which has argued before 12 of the 13 federal courts of appeals since January 2023, is well-placed to handle appeals in state and federal appeals courts across a myriad of areas, among them IP, securities, constitutional law, bankruptcy, tort, and criminal law. Leadership is shared between Washington, D.C.-based duo Elaine Goldenberg and Ginger Anders, along with San Francisco-based Benjamin Horwich. Goldenberg has focused her practice on appeals involving securities law, financial services law and international relations; Anders was recently chosen as lead counsel in any appeal in Arendi S.A.R.L. v. Google LLC, a long-running patent infringement case in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware. Horwich, for his part, majors on litigation and appeals, with a particular emphasis on competition law and federal preemption. Additional names to note include ex-Solicitor General Donald Verrilli, who is stationed in D.C. and recently secured a significant appellate victory for Grayscale Investments, LLC, when the D.C. Circuit vacated an SEC order denying Grayscale’s bid to launch the first spot bitcoin exchange-traded product in the United States.
