Focused out of its New York head office, the ‘tenacious and hardworking’ team at Bleichmar Fonti & Auld LLP has, since its inception in 2014, quickly gained a reputation for providing a ’high-quality’ work product to plaintiffs insecurities fraud cases and shareholder derivative matters. The firm’s rigorous evaluation service followed by an ability and willingness to run cases throughout the course has ensured a series of high-profile recent victories. Under the leadership of the ‘smart, thoughtful and aggressive’ Joseph Fonti, in a case that lasted over five years, the team recently successfully prosecuted a class action (securing a $420m settlement) for investors against Teva Pharmaceuticals arising from alleged mis-statements and omissions about its generic drug price increases. The ’outstanding’ Nancy Kulesa is also a key member of the team and along with George Bauer recently secured another notable win, this time in shareholder derivative action which also utilized the firm’s nascent Delaware office, which successfully clawed back $919m from board members of Tesla. Javier Bleichmar co-heads the team alongside Fonti and as well as being involved in many high-profile cases, including the aforementioned Teva and Tesla matters, is also responsible for overseeing the firm’s case evaluation offering.
