D'Empaire’s public law team remains active in advising clients navigating Venezuela’s shifting regulatory landscape. The group continues to support companies pursuing compensation claims against the state, particularly in relation to nationalisations and expropriations, through proceedings before the administrative courts. The team is also noted for assisting clients in relaunching operations under the evolving legal regime, particularly in light of the removal of foreign exchange and price controls. Clients operating in the pharmaceutical, telecoms and media sectors turn to the firm for guidance, and the group has additional experience advising foreign investors in the mining sector, particularly on the implications of US and EU sanctions. José Valentín González and José Humberto Frías co-head the practice and are recognised for their expertise in public law litigation and regulatory advisory work.
