Torys has a strong dispute resolution team in Ontario, with particular expertise in shareholder defence and activism disputes in addition to commercial disputes. The group frequently advises high-net-worth individuals on litigation risk mitigation and crisis management. At the helm of the practice, Linda Plumpton is the go-to advisor for class action defence, securities and competition litigation. Practice co-head Sarah Whitmore is a key contact for financial institutions, technology companies and investors, and Andrew Bernstein focuses on public law and appellate work. Sheila Block has extensive experience in commercial litigation, intellectual property and defamation cases, whilst Gillian Dingle exhibits skill in civil litigation related to corporate and securities law.

Representing Eton Park Capital Management and the other Applicants, Petersen Energía Inversora, S.A.U., Petersen Energía, S.A.U. Eton Park Master Fund, Ltd., Eton Park Fund, L.P. in an application to enforce a $16bn Southern District of New York (SDNY) Judgment issued against the Republic of Argentina.
Acting as counsel to Mithaq in its C$308m unsolicited takeover bid to acquire all the outstanding shares of Aimia Inc. (“Aimia”) not already owned by Mithaq.
Acting for KSV Kofman (now KSV Restructuring) on various matters, including as the court officer in the CCAA proceedings of Bondfield Construction Company Limited, a family-owned Canadian construction company, and in its capacity as receiver and trustee-in-bankruptcy of Forma-Con, a subsidiary of Bondfield.
